SAFETY AWARENESS : PREVENTION is BETTER than ACTION

Based on the exposure I have with local law enforcement officers and some shady characters, I have decided to share my kowledge with the mass.

Safety awareness is the KEY to protecting you and your loved ones.

It is as simple as ABC and requires some practice...and the more you practice it becomes a habit.

Some may think I am paranoid, but if you live in a developing country where the social economy status is still underachieved, you would want to practice more caution ..

In this series ..I will start with Vehicle Safety..


Getting In & Out of Vehicle

  • NEVER be distracted, dont be on the cell when you are about to enter or exit vehicle. Human senses are limited despite whatever people say about women as better multi-tasker. If you are carrying groceries, look around you before you enter.

  • NEVER deactivate the car alarm from a far distance, you are informing your perps ( attacker) your car, which makes you an easy target

  • NEVER GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE in a DARK SPOT without scanning your surrounding. Most of the time your "spidey" senses can alert you. If you lack spidey senses, I suggest you practice Insight (Buddhist Meditation) or learn martial arts that teaches calmness, serenity and clarity
In the event that you know you are being followed or there are people waiting for you to get out of your car to attack, practice restraint..

  • Use your car honk ..ATTRACT ATTENTION
  • Do not kill the engine, ESCAPE from the scene.. go to a crowded area.. advises to drive to police station can be impractical- how many of you actually know the location  unless you go there often)

While you are in your car...

Addressing suspicious character

  • Many a times we may feel embarrassed to act super paranoid, if you feel that you are not too sure about the persons' intention, roll down an inch of your window ( NEVER ROLL DOWN COMPLETELY especially cars that have automatic switch)
  • As long as you make contact with your possible assailant, they know that they have lost the element of surpirse and it will reduce the likelihood of an attack.
Stopping the car at secluded spot, a junction or traffic light

  • This is a perfect spot for snatchers /grabbers.
  • In my current resident country; MALAYSIA. Signages have even been put up to warn pedestrians about bag snatchers from perps who ride motorcycles. These snatchers are trained in the art of grab and go.
  • When you are in your car, you may feel perfectly safe.. BUT BEWARE.. you have at least 6 windows and 4 of them are very vulnerable.
  • DOOR WINDOWS can be broken in less than a second !
  • There is a spring loaded device about 4 inch and this device can be made or bought from "pasar malam". It mask itself as a safety tool with a belt cutter. DONT BE FOOLED by wat this small device can do. If you launch it at yourself on your hand you dont feel much..but for a glass..its a different matter. IT IS NOT THE IMPACT OF THE DEVICE IT IS THE VIBRATION IT CAUSE..
  • NEVER PUT YOUR VALUABLES ( HANDBAGS/ TOTE/LAPTOP BAGS/DOCUMENT CASES) ON THE SEAT WHERE YOUR PERPS CAN BREAK THE GLASS WITH DEVICE AND SNATCH IT- put it on the car floor or car boot.
  • TINT CAR USING BURGLARY SHEETS instead of the crystal coating stuff.. THE SHEETS ABSORB THE vibration and may not be that easy to break with a single shot

 TAILGATING PERPs WITH HIDDEN AGENDA
  • We may not be aware of tail gators, these can come in the form of an unsuspecting beatup junk car or a bike or even a S-class Merc ( stolen)
  • What tail-gators do to make you STOP YOUR VEHICLE SO THAT THEY CAN CAR JACK / ROB YOU

  1. Automatic "Punctured" tyres. They insert a small pellet into your tyre inflation tip and covered it back with the cap. After 20-30 mins, you will definitely have a flat. Hence you will stop your car and the tail-gator will be in BUSINESS !
  2. Automatic Smoke From Vehicle-ROBBING This is the newest trick and i really hope these perps dont read my blog to learn this.. Pouring lubricants into your braking system ( at the tyres- will not be specific to prevent teaching of this method) is unsuspecting to the driver. After several minutes of braking you will notice smoke from your car and since smoke travel upwards it gives the impression its from the car engine which will compel you to stop.
  3. Automatic Smoke From Vehicle-MECHANIC SCAM 
       Read about the trick description on point 2. Instead of robbing you
the tailgating good samaritan under cover will offer you help. And he will just pour some liquid into your tyre to clean the lubricant (oil) and neutralise it. He will then ask for soem compensation .. if you refuse it can get nasty. 


Some othe uncommon but sophisticated methods:
  • Have an accomplice throw steel pellets on your windscreen from overhead bridges making windscreen smashes
  • Throwing caltrops to puncture tyres
  • Pouring oil slick onto roads to cause traffic accident ( usually done by unscrupulous people who will benefit from it..toll truck operators/mechanic)
